• Turn a trip into a photo book. "Create book" on the trip Overview picks the stops, then you edit the pages directly: layouts from one to six photos, drag to reorder, pan and zoom every photo and map, movable notes (Body, Quote, Caption), workout routes, link cards, day maps, editable captions and day names with a subtitle. Five themes and seven color palettes. Every edit is saved automatically and syncs, so you can continue the book on any device.
• Export the book as a PDF. Choose "Print version" (full-resolution photos, selectable text) or "Share version" (about ten times smaller, sized for mail and messaging). The back cover sums up the whole voyage even when the book is a curated subset. Exports keep running while you use the rest of the app, with progress and Cancel.
• Play your trip as a movie. A transport icon rides your routes across a live map, the path lights up behind it, and the camera pauses at every stop for its photos, notes and tags. Three styles (Explorer, Satellite, Dusk), a title card with the trip cover, and pacing that scales with distance. Each stop has its own content editor: pick and reorder the photos that play, choose the note, and turn the stop's Wikipedia article into read-along slides. Skipped stops can be detoured as drive-bys or cut.
• Export the movie as a video. "Export Video" renders the animated journey into a portrait MP4 with a small "Made with Voyamap" watermark, with progress and Cancel.
• Routes between stops. Tap "Add route" between two consecutive stops to draw the leg with its transport icon (walking, cycling, car, bus, train, plane, boat; legs under 1 km default to walking). "Plan Route" computes the real road with Apple Maps, lets you pick between itineraries and bend the path with via points; routes carry photos, notes and tags like stops.
• Rebuild past trips from your photos. The "+" menu offers "Old Trip": pick the dates and destination time zone of a trip you took before Voyamap and the app rebuilds its stops from photo locations and workout routes for you to confirm in Review. "Find my trips" scans your library's dates and locations (never the images), figures out where home is, and proposes the trips it spotted. Works from any device, including your Mac.
• Back up and restore. Settings gains "Back Up All Trips…" and "Restore from Backup…", each trip's Overview an "Export trip backup", and the "+" menu "Import Backup…". A single `.voyamap` file carries stops, roads, photos, workouts, notes, links, tags, attachments, the cover and the book and movie designs; opening one from Files, Finder or a share sheet lands in the import sheet, which lists the trips with their counts, marks the ones you already have, and restores the rest. Photos and workouts are re-matched from your Photos library and Apple Health; importing twice changes nothing, deleting a trip and restoring it from a backup brings everything back, photos included, and a backup trip whose dates overlap a trip you already have is refused rather than doubled.
• Your stops come with something to read. When a stop is a place Wikipedia knows, its article appears under a new "Place information" section, shared by every stop at that place and in your language when available. "Add Wikipedia" finds nearby articles or searches by name; any link can be attached to the place rather than a single stop; link rows show a summary and lead image. On the recording iPhone, arriving at a notable sight during an ongoing trip fires a quiet notification naming it. Both can be turned off in Settings.
• Stops are named after the place you actually visited. Naming cross-checks Apple Maps against Wikipedia's knowledge graph, so the Trevi Fountain names your stop even when Apple only returns the souvenir shop next door; districts, cities and street furniture never name a stop. The place picker's browse list is grouped into Attractions, Food & Drink, Shops, Stay & Transit and Other.
• Voyamap speaks French, Spanish, German and Dutch. The whole app, including permission dialogs, follows your device language, and dates, distances and durations use your region's formats. The last English-only messages — the trip-start notification, iCloud sync banners, undo toasts, tag empty states, and date-overlap errors — are translated too.
• Help & Legal in About. Links to the support page and the privacy policy, next to Send Feedback.
• Find a stop by typing. Timeline and Review have an always-visible search bar that filters stops as you type.
• The stop you're in stands out. On an ongoing trip, Review pins the stop you're currently at with a live "here for 45 min" badge, and Timeline and Review read newest-first so today is on top (finished trips stay chronological; a toolbar button flips either way, remembered per trip).
• Trips planned in advance capture from day one. Creating a future-dated trip arms background capture immediately on the recording iPhone; a reminder notification fires on the start day in case iOS could not wake the app.
• More control over your data. "Edit times…" fixes a stop's arrival or departure by hand (and closes a stuck "still here" stop); "Merge place with…" folds duplicate places; Edit Trip can change the destination time zone; stale devices can be swiped out of the device list; narrowing a trip's dates lets you keep or delete the stops it would strand; the Tags tab can create tags.
• Undo nearly everything. Confirming, hiding, merging, splitting, Confirm All, Hide All and deleting an unmatched photo or workout all show an Undo toast; Show Hidden gains "Unhide All".
• Share from wherever you're looking. The photo viewer shares the original at full quality, the workout viewer shares its route as a map snapshot, and the trip cover shares its image — all under a readable filename.
• Choose a cover from your Photos, from this trip, or from Unsplash. Covers work offline and can be changed or removed from the trip editor or the book editor.

Changed

• Runs on iOS 17.4, iPadOS 17.4 and macOS 14.4 or later.
• Everything heavy runs in the background. Stop detection, place matching, photo scanning, Confirm All, Hide All, deleting a trip and exports no longer touch the interface: a status line and progress bar keep you informed, lists keep their scroll position, and sharing a photo or route no longer freezes the app.
• A calmer, clearer Review. Stops, photo moments and workouts share one row anatomy with a one-tap confirm checkmark; hidden items live in a separate pane behind Show Hidden; a "N photos · M workouts unmatched" chip jumps to the unmatched items; Confirm All asks first; assigning a photo can create a new stop or pick any stop, reviewed or not; Merge can reach stops outside the ±12 h window; empty states distinguish "nothing detected", "recording" and "all reviewed".
• Your Mac is for reliving trips, not recording them. macOS cannot give any app background location, so recording is now an iPhone job; a Mac already set as recorder hands the job to your iPhone. On the Mac, every Settings button opens the right System Settings pane, the trip list has a refresh button and Cmd-R, map pins open their card on click, hidden stops can be deleted from the context menu, the window keeps a usable minimum size, and finished exports end as a file on disk ("Save…" then "Show in Finder") instead of a share sheet.
• Fewer permission ambushes. Health and Location prompts wait for the right moment, view-only devices skip the recording-sensor prompts, onboarding permission rows show the real status and can be navigated back, and the iCloud sign-in prompt appears at most once.
• Plainer language. "Keep" / "Merge in" instead of "Master" / "Slave", "Recording" / "View only" instead of "Logger" / "Viewer", one honest delete-trip warning that says your Photos library and Apple Health are untouched, and status banners that never contradict each other.
• Trips are bounded to the hour. Two trips may touch but never share a moment, so a check-out / check-in day's photos can no longer land in both trips.
• No more tuning settings. The pipeline ships with bench-validated values; the Parameters tab is gone.
• More legible everywhere. Stop rows scale with Dynamic Type, more controls carry VoiceOver labels, map day chips show dates, and Overview stat cards and tag chips are tappable.
• One switch for Wikipedia. "Use Wikipedia to improve stop relevance" in Settings → Recording replaces "Add Wikipedia links automatically". Off means a stop's coordinates are never sent to Wikipedia at all: stops are named from Apple Maps only, arrival alerts pause, and "Add Wikipedia" offers name search only. If you had the old toggle off, the new one starts off. Articles already attached stay. The onboarding privacy page now mentions the lookup.

Fixed

• Deleted things stay deleted across devices. Permanently deleting a stop hard-deletes its GPS evidence so no sync round-trip or refresh can rebuild it; deleting a trip removes its trail, photos and workouts from Voyamap for good; a first iCloud sync no longer resurrects deleted photos or drops tags.
• No more duplicate stops or duplicate photos. Recurring places, open visits ("Unknown stop" rows) and photos still uploading to iCloud Photos could each produce duplicates; all three are prevented and existing duplicates are healed in the background, keeping tags, links and review state.
• Merging, splitting and re-clustering keep your work. Roads, tags, notes, PDFs and links move onto the surviving stop instead of being deleted or orphaned; a split keeps its departing road on the right half.
• The pipeline keeps the right stops. A hotel night whose departure signal was lost is no longer deleted a day later; the first stop after capture starts is kept; brief pauses under five minutes are cleared; "Currently here" can no longer point at a stop you already left.
• Quieter, cheaper sync. Opening a trip no longer rewrites every stop to iCloud, workout city names are looked up once, and a second device can no longer take over recording from the iPhone that is on the trip.
• Missing photos no longer break thumbnails, books or movies. A photo deleted from the library or not yet downloaded shows a placeholder and is skipped when composing pages and stop cards.
• Crash fixes. Confirm All during a merge, the merge sheet when its candidate disappears, sheets whose stop or tag was deleted on another device, double-tapped Split, and a refresh with a GPS-less workout.
• Movie playback. A rebuilt camera engine flies smooth arcs without zoom pumping or a flickering trail, legs across the antimeridian take the short way, memory stays bounded on long trips, exported stop cards are readable, and the Mac's traveller no longer ghosts or double-pins.
• iOS 17 and macOS 14 behave like iOS 26. On the oldest supported versions, opening a stop from the Review queue froze the app in an endless redraw, and deleting a trip left its roads and place suggestions behind so a later restore could not bring the road's photos back. Both are fixed; the first App Store build is verified on iOS 17.4 and iOS 26.
• Large libraries no longer flash "No trips yet" at launch, offline place search shows an offline notice instead of spinning forever, and a re-export can no longer break a share still in progress.

Added

• Tags tab. A new top-level tab (a sidebar item on Mac) where you tag stops, photos, and workouts and tap any tag to see everything carrying it, grouped by trip. This is also the single home for managing tags — rename, recolour, re-icon, merge, and delete.
• Per-trip Tags view. Each trip now has its own Tags tab alongside Overview, Timeline, Map, and Review.
• Photo moments in Review. Unmatched photos are grouped into moments. Tap one to open a gallery where you can select several at once and assign, hide, tag, or turn them into a stop in a single pass.
• Expandable stop and photo viewers. Open a stop or photo full-screen, with photo capture details and a swipeable gallery.
• Workout summary. The workout viewer breaks out activity, duration, distance, and active energy at a glance.
• Bulk Hide All in the Review queue to clear everything you do not want to review in one tap.

• Smarter stop naming. A stop with no nearby point of interest can borrow a name from a confirmed neighbour, and workouts are named by the city they pass through.
• Cleaner Review controls. "Show hidden" and manual refresh moved into the trip's overflow menu, and Review now uses the system's native batch-action bars.
• Mac trip navigation. Trip tabs moved into the sidebar; the in-trip tab bar was removed.
• Tidier toolbars across iPhone and Mac.

Fixed

• More reliable map pin selection: tapping pins is instant, close-together stops cluster instead of fighting for the same spot, and the map no longer jumps to a neighbouring pin or loses your selection.
• Route thumbnails and the workout viewer now render correctly on Mac and no longer show a stale image when scrolling.
• Photos assigned to a visible stop are no longer left hidden, and hidden photos and workouts are dimmed to match hidden stops.
• Route-less workouts stay visible and can be detached; workouts with no recorded path are filtered out.
• Sync is steadier through iCloud account changes: Voyamap pauses background work during an iCloud re-sync and resumes on its own.
• Deleting or merging a tag no longer leaves an open detail screen pointing at data that's gone.
• Merging or deleting a tag now counts directly-tagged stops too, matching the number shown in the tag list.
• A tag's detail screen shows a loading spinner instead of briefly flashing "nothing tagged yet."
• The Review queue's photo-moment viewer can no longer get stranded open after the queue empties out mid-review.
• Hide All in Review is now one batched save instead of one per item, making it much faster on trips with lots of stops.
• Fixed a bug where a stop with no real location could push the map's view out into the ocean.
• Fixed an occasional stale photo thumbnail on a recycled row.
• Opening a trip from the Mac sidebar now correctly highlights the Overview row.
• Deleting a trip you're currently viewing now returns you to the trip list instead of showing a stale screen.

Performance

• The app now renders from precomputed views of your data prepared off the main thread, so trips, the map, and the Review queue stay smooth and responsive even with many stops and during heavy iCloud syncing.
• Timeline photo thumbnails are cached to disk so they load faster on revisit.
